Congratulations are in order for INK’s newest nightclub REBEL – the venue has been listed as a finalist for Boutique Design’s Gold Key Awards in the Best Nightclub/Lounge category. In its 37th year, the Gold Key Awards for Excellence in Hospitality Design is one of the industry’s most prestigious honours and is presented in New York with BDNY and HX: The Hotel Experience. Awards are given to those recognized which are the most influential and innovative in design work.
REBEL, located on Polson Pier in Toronto, is a 47,400-sq.-ft. nightclub and venue designed by regular INK Entertainment collaborators Studio Munge. Alessandro Munge, principal of the studio, states, “International cities and luxury fashion were a key ingredient, as the original creative concept and mood stemmed from a Roberto Cavalli gown. As the narrative continued to evolve into a progressive escape of performance and indulgence, that lovely dress blossomed into a symbolic motif of woman and animal.”
Highlights of the venue include the custom 32-ft. rotating light system (also known as “The Ring”), the deconstructed drum kit in the upper stairwell, LED screens and lights surrounding the venue and the gorgeous view of the Toronto skyline from the back bar or upper level room NOIR. REBEL hosts a regular nightclub event called Revolution Saturdays every weekend, which features DJs and special guests in the Main Room, Purple Room, Savage and the aforementioned NOIR. REBEL has also been host to a number of concerts over the past year including Sting, Khalid, Carl Cox, and deadmau5 – just to name a few.
